Men's Golf Finishes Day One in 10th of 14

The 47th ranked Georgia State men's golf team finished the second round of the SunTrust Gator Invitational in 10th of 14 after recording rounds of 286-288 (+14) at the par 70, 6,701 yard Mark Bostick Golf Course in Gainesville, Fla.

In the first round, Georgia State was led by Tobias Rosendahl whose round of 69 (-1) was good for a 12th place finish. Rosendahl responded by carding a 74 in the second round to put him at +3 and in 30th place.

Allen John and Tom Sherreard each carded 72 (+2), in the first round, to put them in 39th position. Sherreard charged up the leaderboard in the second round with a 69 to finish the day at +1 and in 14th position. John recorded a 73 to finish in 42nd at +5.

Alan Fowler's first round of 73 (+3) placed him 48th. In the second round, Fowler saw a slight move up the leaderboard to 42nd by shooting a 72 and moving to +5 on the day.

Alex Castro had rounds of 77 and 83 for a 74th place position at +20.

Georgia State trails host Florida who finished the first day of the tournament with a 269-276 (-15). Florida's Billy Horschel fired a 65 (-5) to lead the individual competition after the first round, but yielded to teammate Toby Ragland whose 68-65 (-7) granted him the lead after 36.

The Panthers are within striking distance of a handful of teams as they look toward tomorrow's final 18. LSU leads Georgia State by one stroke at +13 with Florida State (+10), North Florida (+9), Chattanooga (+8), UCF (+6), Coastal Carolina (+5), Duke (+3), and Mississippi (-5) in front of them.
