Georgia State men's golf finished third at the rain-shortened Hawks Invitational at Ballymeade Country Club in Bolton, Mass. Tuesday. Junior Tom Sherreard led the Panthers charge up the leaderboard with a final round of 67 (-5).

Sherreard finished third, individually, of the 118 golfers with a 74-67 141 (-3), marking the best finish of his collegiate career.

The Panthers finished third out of 23 teams at the Hawks Invitational. Baylor (No. 5, Golfweek poll) took home team honors with a 10-under total of 566. Georgia State posted a 581, five shots behind North Carolina State (No. 32, Golfweek poll). TCU (No. 46, Golfweek poll) claimed the fourth spot.

Sophomore Tobias Rosendahl finished his tournament with a 75 (+3) to finish in 25th place with the rest of his teammates. Rosendahl, Allen John, Alan Fowler, and Brent Paul all recorded identical scores of 148 to tie for 25th.

Brent Paul went the lowest on the final day of all his Panther teammates at 148 by posting a 71 (-1).

Alan Fowler fired a 72 (E), while Allen John carded a 73 (+1).

Matt Hill of North Carolina State dominated the individual competition by shooting rounds of 66 and 65 to clear the field by nine strokes. Sherreard's third place finish was one shot behind Colton Williams of Baylor.

By finishing third, the Panthers (No. 58, Golfweek) were able to defeat both conference foes that took part in the tournament, William & Mary and Drexel. Also finishing behind the Panthers, in-state rivals Mercer finished in seventh.

Due to inclement weather, golf was cancelled for the weekend and the tournament shortened to 36 holes.

Georgia State opened the tournament by posting a 298 (+10) for the first round, good for eighth place. Today's round of 283 (-5) helped the Panthers climb five spots up the leaderboard.

Tom Sherreard's third place finish comes after ending day one in 24th place with a 74.

Brent Paul, Allen John, and Alan Fowler all improved their positions on the leaderboard markedly on day two. Paul fought through a 42 on the first nine of the tournament to play the final 27 holes 2-under par.

Georgia State travels to Birmingham, Ala. on October 12th for the Jerry Pate Intercollegiate. The tournament will run through the 14th.
