Sophomore transfer Tobias Rosendahl led the Georgia State men's golf team with a 73 (+1), good for 12th position individually, on Monday at the rain-shortened Hawks Invitational at Ballymeade Country Club in Bolton, Mass. Georgia State currently sits in seventh place out of the 23 teams after an opening round of 298 (+10). Baylor leads the team competition with a 284 (-4).
Rosendahl opened the tournament, which had to be shortened to 36 holes due to weather, with a 39 going out, but finished strong with a 34 on the back.
Baylor had three golfers fire rounds of 70 on Monday, and holds the team lead by eight strokes.
Tom Sherreard carded a 34-40 74 (+2) to position himself in 24th place after the first round.
Sophomore Brent Paul battled through the rainy conditions to bounce back from an opening nine of 42 to record a 35 on the back for 77, currently 53rd.
Freshman Allen John continued his solid play by finishing the day in 34th with a 36-39 75 (+3).
Alan Fowler rounded out the Panther scoring with a 38-38 76 for 46th.
Matt Hill of North Carolina State leads the individual tournament with a stunning 66 (-6). He leads Mercer's Bill Jones III by three shots.
Georgia State will try to make their move up the leaderboard on Tuesday for the final 18 holes, beginning with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
