Men's Golf 2nd, Rosendahl 3rd at Rees Jones

Sophomore Tobias Rosendahl finished in third place overall as the 49th-ranked (Golfweek) Georgia State men's golf team placed second out of 12 teams at the Rees Jones Intercollegiate at Haig Point on Daufuskie Island, S.C. Tuesday.

Georgia State was unable to make up a six shot deficit to South Carolina in the third round, finishing second by 21 strokes with a 290-297-313--900 (+36).

Rosendahl entered the third round with a three shot lead on the field, but South Carolina's Wesley Bryan and Paul Woodbury were able to best Rosendahl by one stroke with a 73-71-74 218 (+2) and 72-72-74 218 (+2), respectively, to tie for the medalist position.

Rosendahl finished the tournament in third, individually, with a 71-70-78 219 (+3).

Alan Fowler finished the tournament in ninth place with a scorecard of 73-74-78--225 (+9). Allen John finished 19th with a 71-77-80--228 (+12).

Tom Sherreard moved up the leaderboard on a tough scoring day by turning in a 77. He finished the tournament in 19th place after rounds of 75-76-77--228 (+12).

Jared Cagle finished the tournament in 50th with scores of 81-83-81--245 (+29).

South Carolina won the team event with a 291-290-298--879 (+15) finish. South Carolina is ranked 20th in the nation by Golfweek.

Georgia State finishes second, while San Diego State (+37) finished third. 23rd-ranked (Golfweek) Michigan State finished fourth at +41, while Eastern Michigan rounded out the top five a +44.

George Bryan IV of South Carolina finished fourth with 74-74-72 220 (+4). Jack Newman of Michigan State and Christopher Ross of Eastern Michigan round out the top five plus ties at +5.

Georgia State heads to the winter break, now, as they will hone their skills in anticipation of the SunTrust Gator Invitational to take place in Gainesville, Fla. beginning on February 14th.
