Tiley Earns PGA Asian Tour Card

Former Georgia State golfer Steve Tiley is gearing up for his first event on the PGA Asian Tour, the MGC Indian Maters at Delhi Golf Club in New Delhi, India on February 7.

Tiley, a PING/GCAA All-American honorable mention while at State, qualified for the PGA Asian Tour in December when he finished tied for 11th overall with a two-over par 72 in the final stage of Asian Tour Qualifying School.  The event featured 193 golfers from 34 countries at two courses ? Sutera Harbour and Sabah Golf and Country Club in Malaysia ? and the top 40 finishers earned full-time status on the PGA Asian Tour.

The 2008 PGA Asian Tour will feature a $29 million purse for the season and will include events in Bejing, Seoul and Jakarta.

“It is exciting to have alumni playing all over the world and Steve will be a great ambassador for Georgia State,” said Georgia State head golf coach Matt Clark.  “I can't wait to hear about some of his exotic dining experiences.  I would like to wish Steve the best of luck and I would encourage all Panther Fans to keep up with his progression online.”

Fans can follow Tiley's successes in Asia, where he will be proudly displaying his Panther head covers, at GeorgiaStateSports.com or on Tiley's personal blog, StevenTiley.Blogspot.com.
