Joel Sjoholm finished tied for ninth as the 25th-ranked Georgia State University men's golf team claimed 13th overall at the Ping/GolfWeek Preview in West Layayette, Ind.
Sjoholm started the third and final round with a birdie on the par-five 10th, but posted consecutive bogeys to begin his round above par. Then native of Sweden finished his round with three total birdies, four bogeys and a double bogey to finish tied for ninth with a four-over par 76 in the final round and at two-over par for the tournament.
Georgia State University posted a team score of 302 to maintain 13th on par-72, 7,467-yard Birch Boilermaker Golf Complex Kampen Course. The Panthers finished with a three-day score of 901.
Freshman
Brent Paul flashed his potential by posting a final-round score of one-over par 73 with three birdies and four bogeys and sophomore
Tom Sherreard played consistently over three days and finished tied for 19th, with a final round score of three-over par 75.
The Panthers return to action in two weeks at the Jerry Pate Invitational hosted by Alabama in Birmingham, Ala. on October 8 and 9. Check GeorgiaStateSports.com for updates preceding the tournament.
