VALENCIA, Calif. (March 8, 2007) -- The Georgia State men's golf team wrapped up their head-to-head match with a 290 total falling just short to Pepperdine, who fired a 286 18-hole total at the TPC of Valencia.

For State, junior Joel Sjoholm fired a 1-under 71, freshman Tom Sherreard finished with an even-par 72, senior Derek Oakey finished at 1-over par, 73 and sophomore Mark Haastrup finished with a 2-over par 74. Pepperdine junior Eric Shriver finished with the low-round for the day with a 69.

"It has been an amazing trip," said head coach Matt Clark. "The course was in great condition, and all-in-all we played pretty well. The experience has been great for our players, and I think this trip will help us reenergize for the rest of the season."

State will travel to Williamsburg, Va., the site of the 2007 NCAA Championships, on March 24 for a warm-up against Georgia Tech.
