Men's Tennis Improves to 8-3

Georgia State improved to 8-3 on the season with a 5-2 win over Charleston Southern of the Big South Conference in a match at the Clemson Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers have now won six of their last eight matches and have lost this season only to teams ranked No. 1, 14 and 37.

State was sparked by the doubles point with two winners, followed by singles wins at numbers 1, 2, 3 and 5 slots.

"It is always good to win, but I think we have been playing hard and practicing hard and were a little mentally tired today," Coach Nick Brochu noted. "With a third match in seven days and all the travel, we were able to close out another win on the road. Now, we will get mentally refreshed before we head to California for a pair matches on March 6 and 9."

Georgia State's No. 1 player, Martin Stiegwardt improved to 9-2 in singles play and won for a fourth straight time. Nejc Podkrajsek had the winning point today and won for his fourth consecutive time as well.
