Panthers Fifth Heading Into Final

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Feb. 19, 2007) -- The Georgia State men's golf team dropped back to fifth-place at the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational after a day two total of 297. The Panthers are eight-shots behind leader Alabama, who fired a day two total of 291, entering the final round Tuesday.

Junior Joel Sjoholm led State by firing and even-round of 72 in the second round and moved into a tie for 12th-place. Sophomore Mark Haastrup stayed consistent and matched his first round score with another 3-over 75. Haastrup is tied for 15th-place.

Senior Ben Taylor improved by one-shot from round one and finished with a 3-over 75 and is now tied for 21st-place. Freshman Tom Sherreard bettered his score from round one by two strokes and finished at 3-over 75. Sherreard sits tied for 27th-place. Senior Derek Oakey finished with an 83 and is tied for 73rd-place. Freshman Maurice Jordan is playing as an individual and is tied for 42nd-place after a round two total of 76.

State will conclude the tournament tomorrow. Golf Stat will provide live scoring of the event.
