Senior Joel Sjoholm fired a four-under par 67 as the Georgia State University men's golf team shot an even par 284 and are tied for ninth at the Jerry Pate Intercollegiate in Birmingham, Alabama.

The par-71 6,958-yard event, held by Alabama at Old Overton Club, features 12 teams and the first day will compete into the evening hours following the second round of play. Six teams in the tournament rank in the top-25 nationally.

Sophomore Tom Sherread is also under par at the tournament, with a one-under par 70 first round, while freshman Alan Fowler sits one over par with a 72.

Final results from both the men's and women's golf tournaments will be posted following the day's action.
