BROOKLINE, Mass. (Oct. 14, 2007) The Georgia State men's soccer team dropped its second straight CAA match on Sunday, falling 2-0 to Northeastern at Parsons Field.
With the loss, the Panthers drop to 4-6-1 and 1-3 in the Colonial Athletic Association, while Northeastern improves to 4-7-0 and 2-2 in the CAA.
The Huskies seemed to control the tempo of the game throughout as the Panthers struggled to find its rhythm. Northeastern jumped on the board first when junior forward Lewis Ehrlich knocked in a goal off of an assist from senior Greg Kilkenny.
Northeastern ended the first period outshooting Georgia State 13-1. Junior forward Dathan Knott led the Panthers in shots with two, with senior defender Justin Davis and junior midfielder Linus Warendh recording one shot each.
The second period went much like the first with the Huskies dominating the game and outshooting the Panthers 14-3. With just 20 minutes to go in the match, senior forward Ahmed Talatt secured the victory for Northeastern, as he beat a defender to send the ball into the upper right part of the net for the goal and the win.
Junior goalkeeper Filipe Carvalho finished with a strong effort and 13 saves on the day.
Georgia State returns home for its next match, hosting Drexel at Panthersville at 3 p.m.
