Steve Tiley Earns A-Sun Golfer-of-the-Month Honors



MACON, GA. – Georgia State men's golfer Steve Tiley was named the Atlantic Sun Men's Golfer-of-the-Month for May as announced by the league office on Monday, June 6. It marks the third time this season Tiley has earned the honor. His previous honors were for October and March.

Tiley led Georgia State to its second consecutive NCAA Championship appearance where the Panthers finished tied for 13th-place. He had the top Georgia State finish as he tied for 24th-place with a total score of 289. Tiley fired rounds of 71, 72, 76 and 70. The junior from Canterbury, England, helped the Panthers post a school-best fourth-place finish at the NCAA East Regional. Tiley tied for 25th out of 141 golfers with a one-under par 212 (72, 70, 70).

Tiley became just the third men's golfer in program history to earn PING All-Southeast Region Team honors. He joins senior Ty Harris and former standout Kasper Jorgensen on the list. Tiley was also selected to represent Europe in the 2005 Palmer Cup held June 8-9 at the par-72, 7,201-yard Whistling Straits Irish Course in Kohler, Wis. He set the school record for lowest single season stroke average with a 71.55 and finished with eight top-25 finishes with two individual titles.
