Panthers Fall in Sun Belt Quarterfinals

Box Score ROME, GA - Georgia State fell 4-0 to Old Dominion in the Sun Belt Conference Championship Quarterfinals.

The Panthers put up a strong fight in their doubles matches, but the Monarchs ultimately secured the doubles point along with three singles matches. Alba Retortillo and Maria Paredes managed to win sets in their respective matches on lines No. 1 and 2, but these matches remained unfinished.

Retortillo's time at Georgia State, spanning a single year, comes to a close. In her brief time with the Panthers, the fifth-year senior left a significant mark, immediately contributing to the team upon joining. With a 7-3 record in Sun Belt Conference singles matches, Retortillo played a crucial role in securing ten wins for Georgia State throughout the season.

Andreea Stanescu, a sixth-year senior, also concludes her impressive journey with Georgia State. Over her six seasons with the Panthers, Stanescu not only showcased her skills on the court but also provided invaluable leadership as a team captain. Despite her season being cut short, Stanescu's positivity and coaching skills guided the Panthers through their matches throughout the season.

Head Coach Le'Trone Mason concludes his second season at Georgia State with eight additional wins compared to the previous season.
