Faddoul Named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week

ATLANTA— Georgia State women's soccer freshman midfielder Aaliyah Faddoul is the Sun Belt Conference's Player of the Week. In her first week competing for the Panthers, the newcomer from Ontario, Canada netted a total of four goals with one assist and helped lead GSU to a record-setting 12-0 victory over South Carolina State, followed by a 3-0 home win against Murray State.

Faddoul began her collegiate career by recording a hat trick and one assist in the Panthers' season-opener at home vs. South Carolina State. The freshman followed up the strong performance with an additional goal in the Panthers' 3-0 win over Murray State.

Faddoul totaled seven shots with six shots on frame for a total of nine points for both games. She currently ranks sixth nationally in points per game.

Faddoul joins the Panthers' roster for 2023 having competed for Liverpool FC Michigan Central Academy where she was a five-year team captain.

She spent one year with the Tecumseh League 1 women's team, and was a three-time champion for the National Florida Super Y League in 2019, 2020 and 2021.

The Canada native earned nationwide recognition, as Faddoul's accomplishments on the pitch would earn her an invite to the National U20 Team Canada try outs.

Faddoul and the Panthers continue the 2023 campaign with a pair of matches this weekend at the GSU Soccer Complex. GSU hosts Mercer on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET, followed by Presbyterian on Sunday at 6 p.m. ET.

For all things Georgia State soccer, follow the team on social media as the Panthers enter the 2023 fall.
