Strickland Leads Panthers in Round 1 of Sun Belt Championship

DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. -- Led by an even-par 72 from senior Kelly Strickland, the Georgia State women's golf team stands in sixth place after one round at the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Championships.

The Panthers shot a 10-over par 298 on the Par 72, 6,134-yard layout on the Hills Course at LPGA International to stand. Georgia State is 21 shots behind leader Texas State, the only team under par at 2-under 286.

Strickland carded two birdies and just two bogeys in her even par round. She stands tied for seventh place, four shots behind co-leaders Leah Onosato of Old Dominion and Marine Griffaut of Texas State.

Mahina Leveau shot 74 for the Panthers, followed by Ari Acuff with a 75 and Amelie Weber with a 77.

The 54-hole tournament continues Monday, when the Panthers will be paired with Tory and tee off at 8 a.m.
