PUERTO RICO-- Georgia State women's golf captured the team title at the Puerto Rico Iguana Invitational, finishing with a three-round score of 876 (298-285-293) at Palmas Del Mar CC's Flamboyan Course on Thursday afternoon.
The Panthers' second round 285 score marked the third-best single-round score in program history to help secure the victory in the eight-team field.
Sophomore TK Kongthong led the way for the Panthers as a co-medalist in the tournament, scoring a 2-under 214 (73-71-70) score. Finishing tied for first, Kongthong improved each round of the tournament and finished her final round with a tournament-best 2-under par 70.
Freshman Grace Kalina finished second on the Panthers leaderboard and fourth overall in the tournament with a 3-over 219 (72-75-72) scorecard.
Gemilau Joanne Kurina finished 13th overall with an 8-over 224 (76-70-78) throughout the tournament. Kurnia recorded one of the team's biggest highlights in round two, firing a career-best 70 (-2) to contribute to the Panthers' historic 285 team score and tie for the best round by a Panther throughout the tournament.
Sophomore Lindsey Pak finsihed tied for 18th with a 9-over 225 (77-70-78) score through three rounds. Pak matched Kurina with a stron second round, posting a 70(-2) for her best round of the tournament.
Sophomore Madison Rookard rounded out the Iguana Invitational tied for 23rd with an 11-over 227 (80-74-73) score. Rookard marked a best round of 72(+1) in the final round.
The Panthers will enjoy a week away from the course before hitting the links at the Valspar Augusta Invitational on Monday, March 16-17 in Augusta, Ga.
