Ferris Adds Veteran Presence to Offensive Line

Georgia State has eight new transfers participating in spring practice, and one of the key additions is veteran offensive lineman Tyden Ferris, a graduate transfer from Central Michigan who is featured in this episode of the Georgia State Football Practice Report Presented by Checkers.

The Panthers are in Week 3 of spring practice as they work toward the annual Spring Game, scheduled for Thursday, March 9 at 6:30 p.m. at Center Parc Stadium. Admission and parking are free - claim free tickets here.

"Tyden Ferris is very mature, very businesslike. He comes to work every day," head coach Shawn Elliott said.

"He is one of the strongest members of our football team right off the bat. He's playing right guard for us, and we haven't missed a beat."

Ferris, a native of Delton, Mich., decided to take his talents to the South.

"I played five years at Central Michigan University back in my home state and loved every minute of it, but for my sixth year, I was looking for a new opportunity," Ferris said. "When Coach [John] Holt called me, I had never really thought about the state of Georgia, but I came for a visit and fell in love."

Ferris is quickly adjusting to a Georgia State offensive line that has been a strength of the team the last few years but must replace three starters heading into 2023.

"I have five years of fundamentals, so I think I have a great foundation," he explained. "It's a lot of the same ideas and concepts but maybe different names and different techniques. It's just a matter of tweaking to this offense compared to the offense I played the last five years."

Perhaps the easiest adjustment for this Midwesterner has been the weather.

"Back home, just yesterday there a huge snowstorm," he said. "It's 80 degrees out here!"
