Panthers Fall to Georgia Southern 41-24 Despite Fourth-Quarter Lead

STATESBORO, Ga -- Georgia State fell 41-24 on Saturday night at Allen E. Paulson Stadium.

Quarterback Cameran Brown led Georgia State's passing attack with 280 yards through the air, tossing one touchdown without throwing an interception. The signal caller also added a career-high 120 yards and one touchdown on the ground.

To go along with Brown's showing, Rashad Amos added to the Panthers' rushing attack by picking up 29 yards and one touchdown in the game.

Brown's most prolific target in the ballgame was Javon Robinson, who caught seven passes for 71 yards. Ted Hurst got in on the action in the passing game as well, hauling in five balls for 68 yards and one touchdown.

On the defensive side, Josiah Robinson had seven tackles and 1.0 TFL in the loss.

Georgia State converted on 71.4 percent of third-down attempts going 10-for-14 on the day.

How It Happened

After Georgia Southern opened the scoring to go up 3-0, Georgia State responded to take a 7-0 lead with 4:52 remaining in the first quarter.Georgia Southern scored to go ahead 10-7 before the Panthers responded to even the game at 10-10.

Georgia State followed with a five-yard touchdown reception from to Hurst at the :46 mark in the second quarter and took a 17-10 lead in the process.Georgia Southern then took control of the lead, building a 20-17 advantage before the Panthers responded with a three-yard touchdown run from Amos to jump back ahead 24-20. Georgia State didn't score again in the game and Georgia Southern added 21 more points to finish off the scoring.
