ATLANTA -- Georgia State fell 41-20 to Appalachian State at home Saturday afternoon.
The Mountaineers improved to 4-2 on the year and 1-1 in Sun Belt Conference play, while the Panthers fell to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in conference matchups.
Cameran Brown led Georgia State's passing attack with a career-high 212 yards through the air, tossing two touchdowns without throwing an interception. The signal caller also added 30 yards and one touchdown on the ground.
Brown totaled 30 yards to lead the Panthers' ground attack and added one touchdown in the game, picking up 4.3 yards per carry along the way. Rashad Amos also tacked on 18 yards on the ground, picking up 6 yards per carry.
Ted Hurst pulled in nine catches for 105 yards. Javon Robinson made his presence felt in the passing game, recording nine receptions for 85 yards and one touchdown.
Richard Kramer paced the Georgia State defensive effort, totaling three tackles, 1.0 TFL, and one sack. Team added and Dj Riles had in the loss.
Georgia State converted on 47.4 percent of third-down attempts on the day.
Georgia State's defense held up fairly well against the run, limiting Appalachian State to 124 yards on the ground.
How It Happened
Appalachian State opened up a 31-0 lead, but Georgia State put points on the scoreboard with 4:40 left in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 31-6.After Appalachian State scored to increase its lead to 38-6, the Panthers got on the scoreboard again to narrow the gap and make it a 38-14 game.
After Appalachian State scored to increase its lead to 41-14, Georgia State responded with a touchdown with 6:25 left in the fourth quarter lead to cut the deficit to 41-20. Both teams played the rest of the game without scoring.
