Panthers Travel to Visit Florida Gulf Coast, North Florida

ATLANTA— Georgia State men's tennis returns to road play in Florida this weekend and is set to visit Florida Gulf Coast and North Florida on Friday and Sunday. Head coach James Wilson and the Panthers currently sit at 1-3 on the year after opening at home last week and charting the team's first victory of spring 2023 dual match competition.

GSU downed Furman, 4-3, at the GSU Clarkston Courts on Sunday after falling short in a hard-fought battle visiting Georgia Tech on Friday. The win at home was highlighted by strong play from fifth-year graduate Roberts Grinvalds who clinched match point for the Panthers playing the top singles court position, as well as a second consecutive one-sided win for sophomore Edward Tymes playing the third court.

Tymes earned GSU a point in the match against Georgia Tech with a strong 6-3, 6-2 victory at the No. 5 singles position. Tymes followed up the performance with yet another dominant win in straight sets, this time at the third court position, as the sophomore downed his opponent from Furman, 6-0, 6-2.

GSU will once again hit the road visiting the sunshine state as the team looks to continue its momentum heading into the weekend.
