Highlighting the Panthers' 2023 Season

2023 FINAL RECORD: 9-5-6 Overall, 4-3-3 Sun Belt

TEAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

> Georgia State posted its fourth consecutive winning season and its fifth straight season with nine or more wins.

> The Panthers set a school record by allowing just 12 goals all season. 

> Georgia State ranked third in the Sun Belt and No. 15 in Division I in goals-against average (.600)

> GSU recorded 11 shutouts on the season, the second-most in program history. The Panthers ranked second in the Sun Belt in No. 23 in Division I in shutout percentage at .550

> The Panthers were No. 2 in the Sun Belt in goals scored (36), points (102) and goal differential (+24).

> Georgia State's 36 goals are the most by the team since 2015.

> Georgia State started 3-0 in conference play for the first time since 2003

> In the season-opening 12-0 win over vs. South Carolina State, the Panthers equaled program records for most goals and largest margin of victory

> Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year: Aaliyah Faddoul

> All-Sun Belt Conference: Aaliyah Faddoul (1st team), Eva Diez Lois (2nd team), Jaddah Foos (2nd team) 

> CSC Academic All-District: Bree Barley, Ana Diaz, Alondra Nieves

> Sun Belt Players of the Week: Aaliyah Faddoul (Offense, 8-22-23, 9-26-23) Eva Diez Lois (Defense, 10-3-23) Alondra Nieves (Offense, 10-17-23), Jaddah Foos (Defense, 10-24-23)


 

INDIVIDUAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

> Freshman Aaliyah Faddoul led GSU with seven goals, six assists and 20 points. In the Sun Belt, she was tied for sixth in goals, tied for fourth in assists and sixth in points.

> In her first collegiate match, Faddoul scored three goals vs. South Carolina to match the program record.

> Alondra Nieves also scored seven goals to share the team lead and give GSU two players with seven or more goals since 2015.

> Goalie Jaddah Foos led the Sun Belt in save percentage (.881) and ranked second in goals against average (.483) and fifth in shutouts per game (.316). In Division I, she ranked No. 7 in goals against and save percentage.

> Foos finished her career with 21 shutouts, just one behind the GSU record for career shutouts. Her career goals-against average of 0.91 also ranks second in GSU history.

> Eva Diez Lois (88 games) and Jimena Cabrera both surpassed the previous school record of 83 games played in a career.

> Cabrera finished fourth all-time at GSU with 10 career game-winning goals and tied for eighth with 13 career assists.
