ATLANTA -- Georgia State freshman
Pariya Sanpanawat captured individual medalist honors with a record-breaking performance and a three-shot victory at the 2023 Diamante Invitational in Hot Springs, Ark.
The rookie from Bangkok, Thailand, fired her second straight 67 today on the 6,139-yard, Par-72 layout at Diamante Country Club. That gave her a 54-hole score of 204 (12-under par), shattering the Georgia State record for lowest three-round score. She broke the mark of 208 set last fall by
Ari Acuff at the USA Intercollegiate in Mobile.
Sanpanawat is the first Georgia State freshman to win a tournament since Iliska Verwey in 2007-08.
In today's round, Sanpanawat opened with a bogey on the first hole, just her fourth of the tournament, but from there, she collected six birdies to finish three shots ahead of Abbey Schutte of Arkansas (-9, 207).
Sanpanawat shot 70 in the opening round and 67 yesterday, including an eagle on the Par-5 11 each day, to set up today's victory.
Her 67s equal the fourth-lowest score in program history and tie the mark for lowest third round.

Playing with just four healthy players, Georgia State finished tied for 11th in the team standings. Sophomore
Amelie Weber shot 71 today and finished tied for 36th at 2-over.
The Panthers have one more fall tournament, the Mercer Invitational, Oct. 30-31.
