ATLANTA, GA - Georgia State (16-24) took the loss against in- town foe Georgia Tech (33-12), 0-3.
It wasn't a fast game as both teams continued to get runners on base, either with a hit or a walk by the pitcher. Neither team could get the bats hot enough to get runners across the plate as the Panthers left 10 stranded and Georgia Tech left 12.
The Panthers came out hot in the first inning as Bailee Richardson hit a double, to the wall, to put her and Emily Brown in scoring position. Previously Brown was walked then stole second. Brown tried to make it home on a Sophie Mooney hit but the Yellow Jackets didn't let that happen.
In the top of the fifth the Yellow Jackets scored two runs on two walk-in RBIs. The third run came from a fielder's choice to get the runner on second out, third base runner made it home.
The Panthers didn't back down from the fight as they tried battling back in the seventh inning with bases loaded but couldn't finish the job.
Julia Allen (1-1) started in the circle for the Panthers for only the fourth time this season. She pitched four innings before Hallie Adams (4-9) was brought in, where she only allowed two hits and no runs in three innings. Allen took her first loss for Georgia State.
The Panthers are back in conference play this weekend as they travel to Coastal Carolina for a three game series starting on Friday.
