ATLANTA -- Georgia State softball dropped the regular-season finale to Georgia Southern, 7-2, on Saturday afternoon at the Bob Heck Softball Complex.
At the plate, Georgia State was led by Maia Mumpfield, who went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. McKenzie Walker and Maya Bagsby also added hits for the Panthers.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Georgia Southern struck first with a three-run second inning and added a solo home run in the fourth to build a 4-0 advantage.
The Panthers answered in the bottom of the fourth when McKenzie Walker came home on an RBI groundout from Mumpfield to make it 4-1.
Georgia State cut the deficit to two in the fifth after Payton O'Connor scored on a groundout by Caitlyn Hall, trimming the Eagles' lead to 4-2.
Georgia Southern responded with two runs in the sixth and added another in the seventh to secure the 7-2 final.

» Mumpfield recorded Georgia State's lone extra-base hit with a double and drove in one run.
