Garnier Named Georgia State Student-Athlete of the Week

Coming off an impressive win in the first meet of the outdoor season, senior Marine Garnier is this week's Georgia State Student-Athlete of the Week.

Coming off a win last month to close out the indoor season, Garnier continued her winning ways opening outdoor season for the Georgia State Track & Field team with a victory in the 3000m Steeplechase on Saturday at the Don McGarey Invitational hosted by Kennesaw State.

Garnier's first place time of 10:49.17 earned her a 40 second win in the event as the Panthers competed with a limited group of student-athletes to open the spring.

Her time is 41 seconds better than the second-best time in the Sun Belt Conference this season held by Troy's Lauren Locke. It is also the 38^th best time in the country so far this spring.

Garnier and the outdoor track & field team will return to action this weekend in Birmingham, Ala., for the UAB Spring Invite.
