Berlin Finishes Fourth, Panthers Fifth at Lady Bison Bay Point Classic

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. – Emma Berlin earned her first career top five finish and the Georgia State women's golf team finished in fifth place on Tuesday at the Lady Bison Bay Point Classic, presented by Under Armour.

With just three golfers breaking par for a single-round during the three-round event, Berlin shot rounds of 74-76-75 to finish in fourth place at 9-over par in the 87-golfer field. Her final round included 15 pars and three bogeys. She finished five strokes behind Wofford's Becca Earl who earned low medalist honors at 4-over par.

The Panthers shot a final round 309 after shooting 310 in each of the first two rounds to record their third-straight top five finish dating back to the fall season. USC Upstate took the team title at 52-over par, while Georgia State finished at 65-over par, just two strokes back of Wofford for fourth place.

"This tournament was a challenge that the ladies fought to overcome," head coach Jessica Steward said. "It's difficult to believe that 76 is a good score at this level of college golf, but we haven't seen conditions this difficult in quite some time. Led with a great performance by Emma, we were able to outperform some strong teams. I'm really proud especially of the way she was able to keep her composure and take her rounds shot by shot. It's great to see her back to her old self."

This week marked the first of four spring events leading up to the Sun Belt Conference Championship in mid-April. The Panthers were one of three Sun Belt Conference teams in the field and finished ahead of both Troy and Appalachian State.
