Tymes Named GSU Student-Athlete of the Week

Leading the Panthers to a comeback win on Sunday against Stetson, men's tennis freshman Edward Tymes is this week's Georgia State Student-Athlete of the Week.

Tymes clinched the win for Georgia State on Sunday with a three-set win against Stetson as the Panthers topped the Hatters 4-3.

Tymes partnered with Patrick Lazo to earn a 6-1 win in doubles and help give the Panthers a 1-0 lead on the Hatters.

After the first five singles matches were decided in two sets, Tymes rallied after losing the first set to Stetson senior Tim Gennese and won the next two sets 7-6 and 6-4 to clinch a 4-3 win for the Panthers.

The Panthers improved to 3-1 on the early season with the win. Tymes and the Panthers will return to action traveling to Greenville, S.C., next Sunday to face Furman.
