Men's Tennis Prepares for Weekend Tripleheader

Kennesaw, Ga./Peachtree City, Ga.- Coming off back-to-back battles on the road in Florida, the Georgia State men's tennis team will gear up for a trio of outings this weekend as the Panthers travel to face Kennesaw State on Friday, Feb. 25 followed by a doubleheader of home matches against Florida Gulf Coast and UAB on Sunday, Feb. 27.

GSU opened the season with strong performances in early spring play despite dealing with injuries and setbacks. Having dropped its last three matches in tough road contests, the team will look to regain momentum nearing the midway point of the season by posting victories in its next three matches as the Panthers close out the month and enter March.

Last weekend's slate of competition saw GSU face Miami and FAU on the road. The Panthers put up a fight in each outing but ultimately dropped both matches en route to a 3-4 record.

Despite the losses, the road trip to Florida yielded several positive results and takeaways for the team. Roberts Grinvalds and Andrei Duarte continued their stellar play as the duo knocked off the No. 5 ranked doubles pair in the nation in Miami's Franco Aubone and Benjamin Hannestad. GSU currently sits at No. 70 in the ITA Division I Men's National Team Rankings.

GSU will travel up the road on Friday to face KSU at 5 p.m. ET. The match is set to be played at the Betty Siegel Courts in Kennesaw, Ga. The Panthers will then see a quick turnaround on Sunday as the team plays host to Florida Gulf Coast at 11 a.m. ET followed by UAB at 4 p.m. ET.

Originally scheduled to be played at the GSU Clarkston Courts, both of Sunday's matches will now be hosted at Peachtree City Tennis Center in Peachtree City, Ga. GSU will remain the designated home team. Live stats will be available.
