Men's Tennis Hits the Road for Weekend Doubleheader in Florida

MIAMI/Boca Raton, Fla.- The Georgia State men's tennis team will travel to Florida this weekend for a doubleheader of matches against Miami on Friday, Feb. 18 at 11 a.m. ET and FAU on Sunday, Feb. 20 at 10 a.m. ET. GSU will look to rebound coming off last week's match against Furman which marked the team's first loss this spring since the season opener.

Currently 3-2 on the season, the trip will serve as another test for the Panthers as the team continues its road campaign with hopes of getting back on track.

Visiting two formidable opponents for the weekend outing, GSU will have its work cut out for them. Sitting at 5-1, Miami currently boasts three ranked athletes on the ITA singles and doubles list, while FAU is 6-0 this spring season having already shut out two opponents. Fortunately for the Panthers, the team has become accustomed to finding ways to win despite facing challenges and adversity.

Age and experience have also given GSU an edge in competition. The Panthers' roster includes seven upperclassmen, including two fifth year players in Kevin Huynh and Andrei Duarte— both of whom have been critical to the team's success thus far in the spring. GSU will likely rely heavily on the experienced veterans as the team looks to knock off two tough hosts and add to its win total on the year.

The Panthers' first match of the weekend against Miami will be played at Neil Schiff Tennis Center. The match on Friday will be the second ever meeting between the two teams. GSU will then travel to Boca Raton, Fla. to face FAU at Kimberly V. Strauss Tennis Center on Sunday. The Panthers are 10-5 in matches played against FAU since 2001.
