Carlson Earns First-Team All-Sun Belt Honors

NEW ORLEANS- Coming off the first season in the new Sun Belt Conference with nationally ranked opponents the Panthers finish third in the conference and earn All- Conference honor.
 
Junior Simon Carlson earned Sun Belt 1st Team All- Conference honors as released by the conference Friday afternoon. Carlson started in all 17 of the Panthers matches playing over 1000 minutes showing out in his third season as a Panther. The Junior was the only Panther named for the post season All- Conference awards.  
 
Carlson was named after scoring a team high of seven goals this season helping the Panthers to the top of the conference with the second most total goals with 36, 18th in the nation. His 33 shots taken were the most on the team while finishing .545 shots on goal percentage. He also leads the Panthers with two game winning goals against Georgia Southern and Old Dominion.
 
The Junior also tallied four assists, two against South Carolina in the Panthers last home match, to lead the Panthers with 18 points. All four assists came within the last three matches.
 
No. 3-seeded Georgia State (11-3-3, 6-2-2 SBC) will open the SBC Tournament on Sunday at 7 p.m. facing sixth-seeded Old Dominion on the campus of Marshall.
