ATLANTA -- Georgia State women's tennis (2-16) hosts Sun Belt rivals Troy and South Alabama in the final regular season matches of the year. Both matches will be played at Life Time Athletic in Peachtree Corners, Ga.
Last weekend the Panthers faced Georgia Southern and UAB. In the two squads' second meeting of the year, Georgia State fell to in-state rival Georgia Southern, 4-2. The Panthers jumped to the early lead with successful doubles play from Denisa Gheorghe and Angel Carney and Andreea Stanescu and Ellie Aldrich. Carney added to the point total with a victory on court two in singles action. The Panthers could not hold on as the Eagles collected singles victories on four of the remaining courts. GSU paused Sun Belt action to face UAB on Sunday. Despite a victory from Andreea Stanescu on the top court, GSU could not gain momentum as the Blazers took the 4-1 result.Â
On Saturday the Panthers will face a Troy team which holds a 6-9 record. The Trojans surpassed GSU 4-1 in the two squads' first meeting in Alabama this season. The following day GSU will square-off against South Alabama, who is riding a six game winning streak. Overal,  the Jaguars have registered a 12-4 record including a 4-0 win over Georgia State.Â
