ATLANTA -- Andreea Stanescu was named to the All-Sun Belt Second Team for Singles as announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.
Stanescu, a native of Romania, led Georgia State with nine wins in singles action this season including two victories in conference play. Despite Georgia State dropping the team result on other courts, the junior held strong leads on the top court in three conference matches that went unfinished. This includes a 6-2, 4-6, 5-1 lead over Georgia Southern's No. 1 when action halted. In the second meeting with Troy, Stanescu held a 6-3, 4-1 lead over Anastasii Khokhlova. She made a statement defeating Yu Fujioka from South Alabama, 6-0, in the first set in the last conference match of the regular season. The match would go unfinished with Stanescu down 3-4 in the second frame. During last week's Sun Belt Championships, she earned Georgia State's lone point with a 6-3, 6-0 result in the No. 1 position over Drousile Dzebou of ULM.
