PEACHTREE CORNERS, Ga.- Georgia State women's tennis fell 4-1 to Sun Belt competitor Appalachian State Saturday afternoon at Life Time Athletic.
Alexia Alvarez and Angel Carney started the day strong for GSU with a quick 6-0 decision on the third court in doubles action. Despite the edge, the Mountaineers would take care of business with victories over Denisa Gheorghe and Nansi Toskova and Andreea Stanescu and Ellie Aldrich to clinch the doubles point.
Freshman Maddy Frediani shined with a 6-0, 6-0 result on the sixth court, knotting the match at 1-1. Appalachian State would collect wins on lines one, two, and four to take the match. With the team victory clinched, action on the remaining courts halted where Toskova held a one-set advantage and Alvarez was fighting to take her match to three-sets.
