ATLANTA -- After a weekend full of competition Georgia State men's tennis (7-5) will open Sun Belt play against Coastal Carolina Tuesday afternoon in Aiken, S.C.
The Panthers are entering the contest on a three-game winning streak with recent victories over Stetson, ETSU, and Chattanooga. Last weekend freshman Mihai Marinescu outlasted his opposition to propel GSU to a thrilling 4-3 victory over the Bucs. Two days later, the Panthers maintained their high level of play and confidence en route to besting the Mocs 5-2.
Georgia State continues to shine in doubles action, clinching five straight doubles points. Harvey Maughan and Kevin Huynh lead the charge for the blue and white with six wins. Maughan, the reigning Sun Belt Player of the Week, also has notched the most singles victories on the team with seven.
GSU will face a Coastal Carolina team who holds a 4-2 record. The Chanticleers opened conference play with a 4-1 decision over Georgia Southern earlier this month. Coastal Carolina boasts a veteran roster with eight seniors or fifth-years. The two conference foes last met in 2019, where the Chanticleers defeated the Panthers.
The neutral site outing will have a 12:00 p.m. first serve. Live stats will not be available during the contest.
