Alexia Alvarez and Angel Carney found a 6-4 result on court three. Despite the pair's efforts, College of Charleston would rebound. The Cougars took court one, 6-4 before clinching the one-point advantage with a 6-3 result over Andreea Stanescu and Ellie Aldrich.
It looked as if College of Charleston would run away with the match as the Cougars added to their team's point total, cruising to victories on courts one and six in singles action. Stanescu, the team's energetic captain, put the Panthers on the board with a straight set victory on court three, which marks her third consecutive win.
Playing in the second slot, sophomore Angel Carney defeated her opposition 6-4, 6-2 to put the Panthers back within striking distance. After dropping her first set, Ellie Aldrich responded by cruising to victory in the final two frames in route to finding her first collegiate win. The freshman's efforts knotted the contest at three.
Both squads looked to court five for their final and clinching point. Alexia Alvarez, who clinched the squad's first victory of the season against Charleston Southern, once again performed well under pressure. The sophomore, who dropped her first set, stayed composed and poised as she took the second frame. Ultimately, Alvarez outlasted her opponent as GSU found the team victory.
