PEACHTREE CITY, Ga– After two weeks off, Georgia State (2-3) swept in-state foe, Kennesaw State (1-4), 4-0 Friday afternoon at the Peachtree City Tennis Center.
The No. 30 doubles pairing, Andrei Duarte and Roberts Grinvalds, continued their strong 2021 campaign with a 6-1 victory on the top court. This marked the duo's fourth doubles win. Harvey Maughan and Kevin Huynh clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 result on court two in their first outing as a unit.
GSU kept their strong momentum going into singles action. The 2019 Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year, Vazha Shubladze registered his third victory of the season with a 6-3, 6-1 decision on the first court. Freshman, Mihai Marinescu, extended the GSU lead with a 6-3, 6-3 result on court four. Harvey Maughan, a junior Kennesaw State transfer, held on in a tight final game to clinch the Panthers' victory, 6-0, 6-4.
Georgia State returns to action tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 27 with a meeting against Furman. First serve is slated for 2:00 p.m. at the Peachtree City Tennis Center. Fans can follow along via live stats.
