ATLANTA-In a schedule update for the Georgia State men's basketball team, the Panthers will now face South Alabama in a Sun Belt Conference showdown on Friday night, Feb. 26, at 9 p.m. ET, live on ESPN2.
The game was picked up for national television on Monday as part of a two-game 'Wild Card' package between the Sun Belt Conference and television partner ESPN. The Panthers-Jaguars game in Atlanta was also selected last month but was cancelled due to COVID-19 protocols.
The Friday time change will also lead to a Saturday time change to allow additional rest for both teams. The Panthers and Jaguars will now play the second game of the series on Saturday, Feb. 27, at 7 p.m. ET That game will remain on ESPN+.
This will mark Georgia State's 18th time on national television since the start of the 2013-14 season, all of which have been on the road or at neutral sites. Of those games, this will mark the 10th time appearing on ESPN2. The Panthers have compiled a 4-5 record in those games which were either on the road or in New Orleans for the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
Georgia State (9-5, 3-4 Sun Belt) will host Troy this Friday and Saturday at the GSU Sports Arena.
