MACON, Ga. - Roberts Grinvalds, Mihai Marinescu and Diego Padilha were all crowned singles champions during the Mercer Gridiron Classic this weekend in Macon, Ga.
As a team, GSU accumulated a 20-3 singles record and a 5-3 doubles record for the weekend en route to winning three of the five singles draws.
Grinvalds has now won his singles draw in consecutive tournaments while tallying an 8-0 mark.
This weekend, Marinescu accumulated a 4-0 record en route to winning the singles flight A2 draw, while Padilha went 4-0 and won the singles flight b1 draw.
Andrei Duarte, Edward Tymes and Harrison Kim also put together solid singles performances as they combined to go 8-3 with each player only dropping one match.
Entering Sunday, the Panthers had only dropped one singles match while owning a 16-1 record.
In doubles action, the freshman duo of Kim and Tymes played their first tournament together and went 2-1 for the weekend. The ITA preseason top-60 duo of Duarte and Grinvalds also went 2-1 for the weekend.
