Barley, Fugel, Knox named All-Sun Belt First Team

NEW ORLEANS -- Georgia State women's soccer freshmen Bree Barley and Brooklynn Fugel, along with super senior Lexie Knox were named to the All-Sun Belt First Team by the league office on Thursday. 

The three honorees are the most First Team honorees for GSU since the 1999 season. The Panthers tied with South Alabama and Arkansas State for the most representatives on the first team. 

Bree Barley
Barley totaled nine points with four goals and an assist her first season. She ranked Top 10 in the Sun Belt Conference in shots and scored three goals in the final four games of the regular season against Troy, Little Rock, and Georgia Southern. Barley provided highlight plays all year long and totaled 36 shots while putting an impressive 22 on target. She ranks second in the Sun Belt and 34th in NCAA DI in shot accuracy.

Brooklynn Fugel
Fugel led the team and ranked sixth in the conference with seven goals this season. She led all Sun Belt Conference true freshmen in points and was tied for most goals by a true freshman. She scored her first collegiate goal against Kennesaw State, but heated up during conference play, scoring five of her seven goals against conference opponents, including two against Louisiana. Fugel also tallied two assists for a 16-point freshman campaign. Her 16 points were Top 10 in the Sun Belt.

Lexie Knox
Knox was the anchor for Georgia State's backline this season, but she also pushed upfield to assist with GSU's offense which ranked Top 3 in the league. Knox contributed in five shutouts this season, fourth most in the conference. She also tallied two assists, one against Louisiana and the second against South Alabama. On the offensive end, Knox took 14 shots, putting four on target. She totaled more than 1500 minutes and started all but two matches for the Panthers.

Georgia State awaits its seed for next week's Sun Belt Conference Championship in Foley, Ala. The Panthers are currently tied for fourth in the standings. Every game of the SBC Championship can be streamed on ESPN+.
