Strickland's Great Finish Leads Women's Golf in Little Rock

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, Ark. – Senior Kelly Strickland birdied five of her final nine holes on Monday to lead the Georgia State women's golf team to a second round 294 at the Little Rock Golf Classic at Diamante Country Club.

With 18 holes to play Georgia State is in a tie for fifth place at 16-over par with Houston Baptist and just five strokes out of third place.
Strickland moved into a tie for ninth place with a second round 1-under par 71, shooting 32 on the second nine. She is 1-over par with 18 holes to play.

After an opening round 71, sophomore Mahina Leveau is at 2-over par thru 36 holes following a 75 on Monday. Senior Ari Acuff made three birdies on Monday and is also tied for 13^th at 2-over par.

Central Arkansas leads the field at 4-under par after shooting the only under par round of the day on Monday. UCA's Camila Moreno leads all individuals at 5-under par following a 71 in Round 2. She is one of just three golfers under par thru 36 holes.

"Today was a little up and down, but the team really hung in there and worked hard for their scores," head coach Jessica Steward said. "We've been focusing a lot on approaching the round one shot at a time, and they are really embracing that mindset. That's evident especially with the way we played the back nine. Kelly was four under par, Ari one under, Mahina even, and Emma was just one over. It was a great effort by everyone."
