GSU Drops Match at No. 7 Georgia

ATHENS, Ga. – Georgia State women's tennis (0-3) fell 7-0 to No. 7 Georgia (1-0) Wednesday afternoon at the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

The Panthers faced two ranked opponents in doubles action. Chivu/Stanescu, who upset the No. 26 duo during Monday's bout with Florida,  battled No. 10 Jokic/Hertel on court one.  In the second position, Alvarez/Carney faced No. 37 Coppoc/Christofi. The freshmen pair of Aldrich/Frediani, both from the United Kingdom, represented Georgia State on line three. The Panthers were bested on courts one and two to give the Bulldogs the one-point advantage going into singles play.

The Panthers fell in straight sets on courts 1, 2, and 3, propelling Georgia to the 4-0 lead and match win. Despite dropping the match, Georgia State continued to fight on the bottom three courts. Ultimately, Georgia would hold on all three to finish the sweep.

GSU will look to bounce back Feb. 13 at Charleston Southern.
