Georgia State Defeats Pair of Local Opponents

ATLANTA- Georgia State women's tennis (4-8) defeated Kennesaw State (3-9) 5-2 before downing Clark Atlanta (6-4) 4-0 in Friday's doubleheader at GSU Clarkston Campus. The Panthers earned singles points at each line during today's action.

In the morning meeting, Kennesaw State got out to a quick start in doubles action as line three won a 6-3 decision. The Owls would clinch the doubles point with a 6-2 win on court one.

The Panthers would immediately tie the match with a dominating 6-2, 6-0 victory on line one. Carney gave Georgia State their first lead of the day with a 6-2, 6-2 win on line four. State would roll to victories on courts two, five, and six. With the match already clinched for the Panthers, the Owls outlasted Aleksandra Stromova to add to their point total.

In the afternoon installment, GSU would win their first doubles point in nine matches, giving the Panthers the one-point advantage over Clark Atlanta. Damira Muminovic, the lone senior, would extend the Georgia State lead with a quick win on line two. Chivu would add to her impressive sophomore year campaign adding a win at line one. After dropping her morning meeting, Stromova would defeat her opponent 6-3, 6-1, clinching the match for GSU.
