JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – In the team's second contest of the weekend, Georgia State women's tennis (2-4) outlasted VCU (4-2) in a 4-2 contest Saturday morning at the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex.

Angel Carney secured a 6-1 win at the No. 1 position early in doubles play. Meanwhile, VCU rolled to a 6-0 victory on court three. The doubles point came down to court two.
Andreea Stanescu and
Alexia Alvarez fought hard, but ultimately the young duo was outlasted 6-4 by the Rams.
In singles competition, VCU extended their lead with a win in straight sets on court four.
GSU remained tough, battling on the remaining courts with three matches going to three sets. Damira Muminovic found the first point for the blue and white with a 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 victory on court two. Chivu tied the match with her own three set win.
Angel Carney secured her first collegiate victory in a dual match, giving the Panthers the one point edge.
Stanescu clinched the Panther's second win of the season with a 6-3, 6-3 performance on court five. Alvarez's match on court six went unfinished.
Georgia State is back in action Saturday against William and Mary in the team's third neutral site match this season. First serve is slated for 2:00 p.m.
