PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. – Georgia State men's tennis concluded the weekend with a perfect 3-0 record after picking up wins over Stetson and Mercer in Sunday's doubleheader at the Peachtree City Tennis Center.
The Panthers (4-6) opened the day with a nail-biting 4-3 victory over Stetson (7-3), as redshirt freshman 
Patrick Lazo tallied his first clinch of the season with a 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 victory at the No. 5 position. Also earning wins in singles competition for GSU was 
Andrei Duarte and 
Roberts Grinvalds. Duarte notched a 1-6, 6-4, 7-6 win on court three while Grivalds cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory on court two.
In doubles play, Lazo and partner 
Diego Padilha got their first win of the dual season with a 6-1 win at the No. 2 spot. 
Quentin Coulaud and 
Bailey Showers followed with a 6-2 win at No. 3 for their second doubles clinch of the season.
Georgia State carried its momentum into Sunday's second match and battered Mercer (3-7) 7-1. Lazo/Padilha and Coulaud/Showers again earned wins in doubles play, with Lazo and Padilha securing the clinch with a 6-3 triumph on court two.
The Panthers racked up three more points to secure the team victory before Mercer scratched across its only point of the day at the No. 1 position. Showers locked in a 6-3, 7-5 win on court five, 
Kevin Huynh won 6-4, 6-2 on court four and Grinvalds won his third consecutive singles match with a 6-4, 0-6, 6-1 victory on court two.
Huynh's win on court four gave Georgia State it's first win at the No. 4 singles position this dual season.
Lazo and Duarte rounded out the match against Mercer with two more points for the Panthers. Duarte won 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 while Lazo defeated his opponent 6-2, 7-6.
Up next for the Panthers is a pair of home matches at the GSU Clarkston Courts next weekend, featuring matches against USF at 1:30 p.m. Friday and UNC Wilmington at 12 p.m. Saturday.
