Panthers Host FAU, Stetson, Mercer in Weekend Slate

GSU takes on FAU 1 p.m. Saturday at the GSU Clarkston Courts

ATLANTA – After opening the dual season with seven consecutive matches away from home, Georgia State men's tennis returns to Atlanta for a set of three home contests this weekend. The Panthers (1-6) face FAU (5-6) in the home opener at 1 p.m. ET Saturday at the GSU Clarkston Courts followed by matches against Stetson (6-2) and Mercer (3-5) on Sunday.

Sunday's doubleheader against Stetson and Mercer has been moved indoors due to impending weather and will be played at the Peachtree City Tennis Center. For directions to the Peachtree City Tennis Center, click here. Live stats will be available for all matches this weekend.

GSU returns to the court after 4-1 defeat to Auburn last Friday. Senior Bailey Showers earned the lone point of the match for Georgia State, knocking off his opponent in straight sets on court six. Though GSU was unable to secure the doubles point, Panther duo Quentin Coulaud/Kevin Huynh picked up their first victory of the dual season with a 7-5 win at the No. 2 position.

FAU enters Saturday's contest having won three of its last four matches, most recently falling to Miami 7-0 last weekend. The Owls are led by Maxime Lapraille, who is No. 114 in the latest Oracle/ITA Division I Men's Singles Rankings.

On Sunday, the Panthers will face a Stetson team riding a three-match win streak into the weekend and a Mercer squad that is coming off a 7-0 shutout over Alabama A&M. Mercer and Stetson will square off against one another on Saturday before taking on GSU on Sunday.
