Track & Field Recap: Feb. 14-15

GSU competed at the Samford Invite and Music City Challenge last weekend.

ATLANTA -- Georgia State's indoor track and field team competed at both the Samford Invite and Music City Challenge Feb. 14-15 in Birmingham and Nashville, respectively.

In Nashville, two school records fell at the Music City Challenge hosted by Vanderbilt. Angela Alonso bested her own record in the Mile with a time of 4:48.21. In the 3,000m, Lotte Meyberg broke a 15-year old record held prevously by Jen Feenstra (9:41.06). Meyberg finished fourth at 9:40.20.

In Birmingham, the Panthers had some strong performances in the jumps.

Sophomore Na'ilah Moore placed second in the Triple Jump with a season's best mark of 11.97m (39'3.25). She also took home a third place finish in the long jump with a leap of 5.75m (18'10.50).

Sophomore Jaeda Hunt made her debut in the long jump and placed second overall with a jump of 5.80m (19'0.50).

In addition, sophomores Jordyn Braswell and Simone Harper each showed major improvements in the 60H running 8.60 and 8.72 in the qualifying rounds.

Freshman Destiny Nash, improved in the 200m dash with a time of 25.21; a season-best performance.

The weekend served as a great tune-up for the Panthers as GSU heads into the Sun Belt Indoor Championship Feb. 24-25 in Birmingham.
