Men’s Tennis Set for Friday Match at Auburn

Panthers take on Auburn at 1 p.m. ET Friday

ATLANTA – Following a narrow 4-3 defeat to Clemson on Sunday, Georgia State men's tennis (1-5) will look to get back in the win column as the Panthers are set to take on Auburn (7-3) 1 p.m. ET Friday at the Yarbrough Tennis Center.

The match will be live streamed on PlaySight and will have live stats available on StatBroadcast.

Friday's contest with be the 12th overall meeting between GSU and Auburn, with the Tigers holding a 10-1 edge in the all-time series. The Panthers' lone win over Auburn came in 2017, when Georgia State defeated the Tigers 4-2 in the Winston-Salem Regional of ITA Kickoff Weekend.

GSU will return to the court after checking off several firsts in its match against Clemson, including Roberts Grinvalds and Patrick Lazo earning their first singles victories of the dual season. Grinvalds picked up a 7-6, 6-0 victory at the No. 2 position while Lazo secured a 6-4, 6-3 win at the No. 6 spot.

Another first for Georgia State came from Quentin Coulaud, who registered a 6-4, 6-4 win for his first victory at the No. 1 singles position, giving him at least one win at three different singles positions this season.

Auburn enters Friday's match looking to bounce back from a 4-1 defeat to Georgia Tech on Sunday. The Tigers started off the dual season with five consecutive wins but have since cooled off, going 2-3 in their last five matches.
