Pinckney Added to Biletnikoff Award Watch List

Georgia State wide receiver Sam Pinckney has been added to the 2020 Biletnikoff Award Watch List, as announced Monday by the The Tallahassee Quarterback Club (TQC) Foundation, Inc., the Florida-based creator and sponsor of this prestigious award.

The Biletnikoff Award annually recognizes the college football season's outstanding FBS receiver. Any player, regardless of position (wide receiver, tight end, slot back and running back) who catches a pass is eligible for the award.

Pinckney, the redshirt sophomore from Greenwood, S.C., leads the Panthers with 44 receptions for 753 yards (17.1 yards per catch) and six touchdowns in nine games, ranking among the Sun Belt Conference leaders in all four categories.

In Saturday's 30-24 comeback victory over Georgia Southern, Pinckney had a career-high 10 receptions for 126 yards, along with a 2-point conversion catch that gave the Panthers a three-point lead with three minutes left. That performance followed his 176-yard outing one game earlier at South Alabama as he combined for 15 receptions and 302 yards in the two wins.

Earlier this season, the 6-4, 210-pound Pinckney had a two-game stretch in which he had 13 receptions for 280 yards and five touchdowns vs. East Carolina and Arkansas State.

After just 21 career games, Pinckney ranks fifth in GSU history with 11 touchdown catches, seventh with 1,295 yards and ninth with 83 receptions.

Pinckney and the Panthers concluded their regular season with a 5-4 record (4-4 Sun Belt).
