Veilleux, Robinson Have Stellar Outing, Panthers Fall to Troy

TROY, Ala.-- Christian Veilleux threw for 307 yards and Javon Robinson put up 146 receiving yards, but Georgia State fell to Troy 31-19 on the road Saturday afternoon.

Veilleux went 19-for-38 on the way to the 307-yard, one-touchdown outing with one interception.

Jordon Simmons totaled 67 yards to lead the Panthers' ground attack in the game. Simmons also tacked on 39 receiving yards. Veilleux also tacked on 37 yards on the ground, picking up 12.3 yards per carry.

Robinson's 146-yard, one-touchdown performance led the Georgia State receiving corps.

Deuce Walker showed out for the Georgia State defense, recording four tackles and one recovered fumble. Fuches Lewis II added three tackles, 1.5 TFL, and a career-first sack, and Richard Kramer had three tackles, 1.0 TFL and one sack in the loss.

Georgia State also had an outstanding day offensively, logging 516 total yards, 152 on the ground and 364 through the air, while averaging 6.1 yards per play and out-gaining Troy.

Georgia State's defense was tough against the run, limiting Troy to just 62 yards on the ground. Georgia State out-rushed Troy by 90 yards. The Panthers defense lived in Troy's backfield all game, collecting four sacks and six total tackles for loss.


How It Happened

Georgia State got on the scoreboard first and opened up a 3-0 lead with 13:29 remaining in the second quarter.Troy then scored to take a 10-3 lead before the Panthers put a field goal on the board to close the gap and make it a 10-6 game.

After Troy scored to increase its lead to 17-6, Georgia State responded with a touchdown with 3:29 left in the third quarter lead to cut the deficit to 17-12.Troy scored to increase its lead to 24-12 before the Panthers scored again to narrow the advantage and make it a 24-19 game. Georgia State didn't score again in the game and Troy added seven more points to finish off the scoring.
