Women's Soccer to Face Troy in Sun Belt Quarterfinals

GSU and Troy will play at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN+.

FOLEY, Ala. – Georgia State women's soccer will face Troy on ESPN+ Wednesday night at 7:30 ET in the quarterfinals of the 2020 Sun Belt Conference Championships.
  • Georgia State (9-2-2, 6-2-2 Sun Belt) and Troy will meet for the third time this season on Wednesday night. GSU earned a 1-1 draw at Troy on Oct. 2 and defeated the Trojans 1-0 at Center Parc Stadium on Oct. 23.
  • The Panthers are the #2 seed from the east in the bracket. It's the highest seed for the Panthers in a conference tournament since 1999.
  • Georgia State's 9-2-2 regular season record marked the third best regular season win percentage in program history.
  • The Panthers rank third in the conference and eighth in NCAA D-I with 19 goals scored this season. GSU's 6.92 shots on goal per game ranks second in the Sun Belt and 15th in the country.
  • Georgia State has gotten major production from its newcomers this season. Of GSU's 19 goals scored, 10 came from newcomers led by freshman Maddie Johnston with four goals. Transfers Grace Kiser and Maggie Hanusek have three goals combined. Freshmen Ana Diaz, Brooke Hart, Gracen Crosby each found the back of the net as well. Freshman Callee Maughon is tied for the team lead with two assists. Freshman Jaddah Foos has been reliable in goal with five shutouts and 0.76 goals against.
  • Freshman Maddie Johnston leads the Sun Belt and is third in the country with three game-winning goals.
  • Freshman Jaddah Foos has five shutouts which is second in the Sun Belt and fourth in NCAA D-I.
  • Jimena Cabrero was named Preseason All-Sun Belt and is fourth in the league with 2.54 shots per game.
  • GSU returns 24 players from a team that advanced to the semifinals of the Sun Belt Tournament a season ago. Leading the pack of returners is Jimena Cabrero, one of GSU's two All-Sun Belt honorees in 2019.
  • Jimena Cabrero was named Preseason All-Sun Belt after a stellar freshman campaign in 2019. Cabrero led GSU with six goals with two assists for a total of 14 points last season.
  • GSU's roster features six international student-athletes; Four from Spain, 1 from Jamaica, 1 from Iceland.
  • Of GSU's 34 student-athletes, 21 are from the Peach State. Maryland has the second most Panthers with two (Kendra Clark, Jaddah Foos).
